Today has been weird.
Early this morning somebody in one of the offices in our building was WAILING… came out in the hallway just sobbing. Crying went on for several minutes. It was unsettling and got my hackles up. Obviously something awful happened.
I brought a change of clothes with me to work – because I cannot get myself up early enough to dress like an actual functioning human being, and because we were going to go to lunch at a nice place for Rachel’s birthday! So I put on a cute dress and some makeup aaaaaaaaaand we got there and that place doesn’t do lunch. Wasn’t open at all LOL So we went to Five Guys. At least we all looked cute.
In the world of sewing I’m almost done with my commission suit I’m working on, I expect to wrap it up this weekend. Yay!
I’ve been working on the pink monster a bit more, mostly starting to do ruffles. First off, I decided my original organza I got was not the right tone of pink so I decided not to use it. UGGGGGGGGGGH. At least it wasn’t expensive. I’ll find some other use for it. Anybody know of a character that would use 15 yds of coral pink organza? LOL.
They don’t like THAT different in this photo but the coral ruffles were on the (viewer’s) left here, my regular pink on the right:
In regular lighting it’s obviously much more orange.
I THINK I have enough of the regular pink I won’t have to buy more. Fingers crossed.
Also can I say, without my big light on — my new ikea ceiling light is so over dramatic:
Anyway last night I got the first ruffle I made taken apart so I could still use the one layer of the regular pink that was in it. I got that hemmed and gathered. Made two more. The 3rd tier ended up being too long — I may move that one down to be tier 4 and cut a shorter one for tier 3. So the third tier in this photo is just tucked up to look the right length:
I ordered my wig for this yesterday too. Got a decent deal thanks to Prime day.
I’m hoping that I can MAYBE be done with all the ruffles this weekend. Then move onto sequins. I’ve also got to dedicate a couple of hours to dyeing my TFA Leia fabric again this weekend. My goal is to have all 3 new costumes like 75% done by the end of July. I’ve still got to do some tweaks to Dolores and Bespin Leia too, never got around to doing those. I think I’m in good shape. Knock on wood!
